2009

Daniel Levy Award

From the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. The Daniel Levy Award was established by NIP in 2002 to honor the memory and work of Daniel Levy, a former staff attorney of the National Immigration Law Center and a tireless advocate on behalf of immigrant and civil rights. Each year, NIP recognizes an organization or team that exemplifies Daniel Levy’s creative, collective and  socially conscious approach to advocacy in the immigration law field.

Moving Mountains Award

From the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA), a division of the State's Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED). NWIRP was recognized for our work on behalf of immigrant survivors of crime; the award was presented during OCVA's statewide conference in Yakima.

Human Rights Award

From the City of Seattle. Jorge L. Barón, Executive Director of Northwest Immigrant Right Project accepted the award on behalf of the organization.  “This award recognizes the dedication of NWIRP’s staff, pro bono attorneys, volunteers and supporters, all of whom work tirelessly to ensure that the rights of low-income immigrants and refugees are respected.  Most of all, however, this award recognizes the courage of our clients, many of whom have endured staggering adversity, but who have persevered to make a better life in this country,” said Mr. Barón.
