The world has lost one of its gems. In June 2009, immigrant rights advocate Beth Peterman lost her battle with brain cancer. She was 38.
Beth Peterman began volunteering at NWIRP in the VAWA/DV unit in 1995. Passionate about immigrant rights work, she joined NWIRP's Board of Directors. She served on the Board and served on NWIRP's Development Committee, later becoming the chair. She served until late 2008 when she resigned to focus on her health.
Beth worked on public health issues in other countries and in immigrant communities in Seattle. She had a Master of Public Health degree and was a Program Officer in Global Health at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Our community will dearly miss Beth.
Beth was a generous donor and one of her final wishes was that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.
