Free CLE: Nonparental Custody Training for SIJS Findings
In the past few years, hundreds of unaccompanied children who suffered mistreatment by a parent have resettled in Washington State.
Many of these children are eligible for a visa called Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). Certain findings must first be obtained in a state court case, often these findings are obtained in nonparental custody cases.
