What to prepare:
For your initial call: (1) EAD expiration date, (2) whether any new and/or undisclosed arrest history
For the clinic: (1) e-copy of most recent DACA renewal, (2) e-copy of front/back of most recent EAD, (3) updated address history (including dates from/to) since last renewal
Thank you to our volunteer partners at Microsoft and Perkins Coie LLP for making these clinics possible.
We particularly urge DACA recipients whose work permits will expire in the next six months (or whose permits have already expired) to sign up for a spot in these virtual clinics, and will give these applicants priority. However, we will also make spots available for any DACA recipients whose work permits expire between 6 months and 1 year from now if they choose to reapply early.
Community Advisory Regarding the Supreme Court DACA Ruling – June 18th, 2020
On June 18, 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling in Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California that the Trump Administration’s decision to rescind Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was “arbitrary and capricious” as it did not follow the proper procedures, but recognized that the Administration could still move to terminate DACA. While we are awaiting the
Administration’s next steps, we have prepared this community advisory for current and potential DACA recipients to address questions following the Court’s ruling.
