Join NWIRP for a free Solidarity Social at the Alma Mater Tacoma! Your first beer and tamale are on us!
On Wednesday, August 28th, members of NWIRP’s Tacoma office will be gathering with the community to discuss how we are defending immigrants facing deportation at the Northwest Detention Center and providing direct representation to community members throughout Pierce county and beyond.
This event is free, all ages, and open to the public and attendees are encouraged to invite friends and family. Our short speaking program will be followed by the opportunity to give.
Accessibility: The event will be held outdoors, with shade for those who need. The space is wheelchair accessible. There is no curb-cut ramp right in front of the venue, but there is one on each side – in front of the neighboring buildings – which give access to the sidewalk in front of the venue. There are 2 single-stall all-gender bathrooms available inside on the first floor, both are ADA accessible. The space is not scent-free.
There is mixed seating available – benches and chairs with arms. We’ll be serving free tamales at the event, and we will have a meat and a vegetarian cheese option. There will be beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drink options available, and each guest will receive 1 drink ticket – after that, drinks are available for purchase.
