One of the strongest laws protecting immigrant communities in the U.S., Washington’s Keep Washington Working Act, came under attack this summer when the U.S. Attorney General sent a letter to Washington State leaders asserting, without any analysis or supporting data, that the state is operating in violation of federal law, citing unidentified “sanctuary policies and practices.”
